Cathay Pacific Unveils Redesigned Cabins for Regional A330-300 Fleet

HONG KONG — Cathay Pacific has unveiled a comprehensive cabin overhaul for its Airbus A330-300 fleet, introducing a new regional Business class product alongside a redesigned Economy cabin, as the airline looks to elevate the experience on its shorter-haul network.

The centrepiece of the update is the Aria Studio, a new Business class suite the airline describes as built around human-centric design. The seat features a fully lie-flat bed with direct aisle access, privacy dividers between centre suites that passengers can open or close as needed, and expanded shoulder space designed to improve ease of movement within the cabin. Additional touches include a bespoke reading lamp, wireless charging, and dedicated laptop storage, alongside a 4K ultra-high-resolution inflight entertainment screen with Bluetooth audio streaming support.

Economy passengers are also getting an upgrade under the refresh. The redesigned seats come fitted with sculpted seatback cushions for added comfort, while entertainment screens have been enlarged to 13.3 inches with 4K resolution, also supporting Bluetooth audio streaming. The airline said the Economy update includes improved stowage solutions and integrated wireless charging as well, bringing several Business class conveniences down to the rest of the cabin.

Sources told The Once Times that the new Economy cabin will be configured in a 2-4-2 layout, a seating arrangement some passengers regard as the ideal balance for regional Economy travel, offering more aisle-adjacent seats than a typical wide-body configuration.

Cathay Pacific positioned the refresh specifically around its regional network, framing it as an effort to modernise shorter-haul travel rather than its long-haul flagship products. The airline has not disclosed a specific rollout date or the full list of routes affected, saying only that the new cabins will be introduced progressively across select A330-300 aircraft.

The update comes as regional carriers across Asia continue to compete on cabin comfort for shorter flights, a segment historically given less attention than long-haul products. By extending Business class-style privacy and entertainment upgrades into its regional Economy cabin as well, Cathay Pacific is positioning the refreshed A330-300 fleet as a broader competitive upgrade.
