WWDC26: What Will Be New in iOS 27

2 min read

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 today, with rumors pointing to a software update centered on Siri, Apple Intelligence, and performance improvements rather than a full redesign.

Siri gets the biggest push

The headline rumor is a major Siri overhaul, with reports saying Apple is preparing a more personalized assistant with on-screen awareness, stronger context handling, and a dedicated Siri app-like experience. Bloomberg also says Apple is framing WWDC 2026 around a broader AI push as it looks to improve its position after a rocky first wave of Apple Intelligence features.

AI features across apps

Leaks suggest iOS 27 will add new Apple Intelligence tools inside core apps such as Camera, Photos, Wallet, Safari, and Health. Among the rumored additions are Visual Intelligence upgrades, including scanning nutrition labels, detecting phone numbers and addresses from images, and generating digital passes from physical items.

Design and performance

Multiple reports say iOS 27 will refine Apple’s Liquid Glass design language rather than replace it, while also improving stability, battery life, and overall speed. That has led some observers to compare the release to a “Snow Leopard”-style update focused on quality and underlying performance.

Hardware and timing

iOS 27 is also expected to prepare the iPhone software for Apple’s rumored foldable device, with interface changes aimed at new form factors. Apple is expected to announce the update on June 8, ship the developer beta the same day, open a public beta in July, and release the final version in September.

The strongest read is that iOS 27 will be an AI-forward but practical update, led by Siri, backed by app-level intelligence, and rounded out by polish and performance gains
